How are the pegs secured against loss and choking?
Peg diameter is specified against the small-parts requirement for the stated age band, and the board is supplied with spares because pegs get lost in a classroom regardless of design. The frame is solid wood with rounded edges, finished in water-based paint.
What safety testing applies to the wooden components?
Solid wood parts are finished with water-based, non-toxic paint and tested to EN71-3 for element migration and EN71-1 for mechanical and physical properties, including sharp edges, sharp points and small parts. For the US we cite ASTM F963-17 and CPSIA Section 101 for total lead in the coating. Moisture content is controlled at incoming material so the wood does not warp or split in transit.

The laser paths and milling setup for this wooden line already exist, so the minimum is moderate and driven by machine time rather than tooling. Samples ship within about a week. Changing the engraved content — letters, numerals, layout — is a laser-path change and adds no tooling cost.
